Last year I jetted off to Cannes together with Dior for their annual cruise show, this year London was the destination and I’m so happy I was able to attend the show and also photograph for them yet another time. I barely had time to breathe, think or take it all in so going through the photos again after arriving back to Paris is making me realise what I just got to experience.
If anyone knows how to go all out it must be Dior. Last year there was Dior ice cream for everyone, the most beautiful firework show and petanque à la Dior, this year Dior took over a British pub and called it “The Lady Dior”, gave us all the most amazing experience aboard the “Dior Express” and rented out Chiltern Firehouse for a private brunch the day after (only to mention a few things). I hope you enjoyed coming along on this dreamy trip through Instagram and Snapchat and I can’t wait for the next Dior adventure one day…

One assignment that I photographed for Chopard while in Cannes was this jewellery story with Nicole. It’s always such a pleasure to get the opportunity to work together with friends and especially with Nicole since we haven’t shot anything together in a while. I’m so happy and thankful for the moments that we got to share together in Cannes (the best surprise ever was that we got to be there during the exact same days) after shooting together for the very first time three years ago now. I’m not sure I would have believed that we one day would be shooting an editorial for Chopard in Cannes during the film festival… Crazy how things turn out sometimes, no?
You can see all the photographs from the story here.
To end this already quite unbelievably stay in Cannes I went to the amfAR gala together with Instagram. You know how some people dream about winning a Grammy, visiting China or learning how to fly a plane? Well, my dream (at least one of them) has been to attend this specific gala. Why? I’m not entirely sure but after seeing the photos from this event throughout the years I’ve always wished to be there myself. The amfAR gala is held at Hotel du Cap, a hotel I’ve had on the top of my wish-list of places to visit around the world, and a dream for anyone who has the slightest interest in looking at pretty gowns. The purpose of the gala is to raise money for AIDS research and throughout the dinner different items and experiences (like a stay at Leonardo DiCaprio‘s home in Palm Springs, a camouflage painted Ferrari, 32 designer dresses, Adrien Brody‘s art piece and several other things) are being auctioned off for more money than I could ever imagine making in a lifetime. I sat completely mesmerised (while sipping champagne and eating my breadsticks) while watching Kevin Spacey introduce celebrities on stage, even though most people seemed to be there to mingle and show off instead of actually listening to what the speakers had to say, and didn’t want to miss a single moment of this spectacular event. Thank you so much to Instagram for having me and making a personal dream come true.
Being surrounded by the beautiful blues of Cannes together with diamonds and precious stones worth more than my entire property together wasn’t the most awful job I’ve ever had so to speak… I spent my first week in Cannes photographing for Chopard and I’m so happy to have gotten to spend this time together with their lovely team and their beautiful gems. I think the week involved less sleep and more stress than I had imagined before leaving but at the end of the day it’s all worth it when getting to do what you love doing. Here are a few photos from my time together with Chopard in Cannes which I hope you’ll enjoy! I’m still dreaming about those necklaces…
A highlight during my time in Cannes, and a moment that still seems completely unreal, was walking Montée des Marches (that famous red carpet leading up to the theatre) in this dreamy Carolina Herrera gown and Chopard jewels. What made this experience even better was the fact that I got to experience it all together with Nicole. To live these special moments with a friend makes it even more special and I’m so happy we got to share this memory together. I only wish I could live these princess moments in dreamy Carolina Herrera gowns more often!
I just came back from Cannes this Friday and think I probably need about a week or two to recover from the lack of sleep, sore feat due to walking and dancing around in heels, shooting and managing work, emails and editing all at the same time. It’s been an absolutely lovely time away and I wish I could do it all over again (well, perhaps after a few weeks of catching up on my sleep…) but I guess that will have to wait until next year.
I ended up staying in Cannes for a little bit longer than expected. After a week of working for Chopard for the very first time I was asked to stay a couple of extra days in Cannes together with Instagram – which is something I obviously didn’t say no to. I even managed to squeeze in an hour on the beach one morning which I think did me very good. If you’ve followed along through Instagram and via Snapchat you already know all of this though…
I ended the trip to Cannes by going to the amfAR gala for the very first time in my life. After looking at photos and dreaming about Hotel du Cap for as long as I can remember this was like a dream come true! Passing by Leonardo DiCaprio, looking over to see Orlando Bloom, washing my hands next to Heidi Klum, getting hugged by Karlie Kloss, dancing along to Katy Perry singing, listening to Kevin Spacey and accidentally bumping into Uma Thurman were just a couple of moments that I still have to make sure I wasn’t dreaming about but actually lived. Crazy, no? I can’t wait to share more photos from this time in Cannes!
So, before we dive into the Cannes craziness here’s a few snapshots from Paris, right before I left. Warm days and evenings spent by the Seine (with a bottle of rosé of course), pretty blooms, I actually managed to avoid Paris in the rain except for this one day and Ladurée‘s latest collaboration with Kerrie Hess. My necessities before flying down to Nice, Parisian streets, pink blossoms and the beautiful breakfast space at Shangri-La (as well as the entrance). Parisian doors and more beauty in the form of #gardengoals and a mini Versailles at the Shangri-La.
Hello from Cannes! I’m currently writing this wearing my PJs in bed after just waking up and I’m about to spend my third day here in the South of France together with a very special client. If you follow along on Instagram or Snapchat (“carin-olsson”) I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. It’s super hectic but hopefully I can share a few more photos very soon!
Necklace: Amulette de Cartier “Guilloche Gold” –Dress: Elie Saab
A cold and cloudy morning in early April suddenly turned the usually greyish Seine into a golden shimmer as the sun finally peeked out, which made getting up at 4:30am in the morning for hair & make-up totally worth it. Hopefully you can’t tell but as we left this location my whole body had turned blue/purple and I was shaking like a little leaf but what don’t you do for that gorgeous morning light. Luckily I was surrounded by the best people who make mornings like these the very best ones, filled with laughter and joking around. There’s nothing I think could go better with the new Cartier Amulette in Guilloche Gold than the Parisian morning light, which just happens to be one of my favourite moments during the day. I’m becoming slightly obsessed with this piece of jewellery and finding myself wanting one in every colour… That seems reasonable, no?
